I had the same problem with vmware player, fixed by enabling multiverse.
An out of date vmware-player-kernel-modules (and presumably also vmware-
server-kernel-modules) exists in universe, causing the confusion from

Today (last night's updates probably), my fonts have become god-awful
horrendous. At least, the ones in gnome-terminal and Epiphany. The
fonts are misformed and blurry, and there's an awful lot of color bleed.
The regular application fonts look the same as before. It seems

A few days ago, I managed to play a (few?) minutes worth of mp4 video
encoded on my iPod with Kaffeine. I don't know the exact time of play,
but I stopped the video. An MP3 was playing simultaneously with Amarok
(also off my iPod) Maybe that will clear something up or open ideas?

I also was experiencing this problem. I've been up for 2 weeks now with
no white screens. I am using a similar board as Toadmund and have the
ATI radeon Xpress 200m onboard video. I'm running Feisty AMD64.
Shutting off the Cool 'n Quiet in the BIOS has kept it from happening.

On a fresh install of feisty, I came across this issue this week. I too
opened many files of many different types. I first noticed this problem
when Amarok stopped loading mp3 files. Attached is corrupted
catalog.cache file.

It was in the same svn commit as the fix for installing the conf file
and seemed to make sense.
I don't think its critical if you don't want to make the change, but
haven't tested without it.

I am using Gutsy Tribe 2 on an old Sony Vaio PCG-XG19. The install
works, but at the end I see a strange error on the screen:

1. I referenced the unix socket as not being enabled, not the tcp
socket. So we're on the same page, it seems.

I found out what was going wrong. Currently I use:
- one small 6.06 LTS Dapper Drake published in June 2006 containing still
applications installed by default.
This one works very well with the dazuko.ko module shipped with the
"linux-image-2.6.15-28-386" package.
