I have two prism2-based PCMCIA cards here that both have worked up
through feisty (with the orinoco_cs driver). I've now tested the two
cards with gutsy (on my T30 laptop which has gutsy installed and my
wife's T22 laptop with the guts
This has been happening for a long time.
Do this:
once you get booted up: ctrl+alt+F2 to switch to TTY2
sudo pkill gdm (this will usually take you away from TTY2, so ctrl+alt+F2 again)
sudo pkill xorg
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx
once that is done:
sudo aticonfig -

Reinstalled Gutsy due to other issues. Updated package installs

Update: I've had the problem reappear two more times in the last 4
hours. The first time, I was `apt-get`ing about 50 packages; the
network link (eth1) died partway through the download. The second time,
I wasn't transferring much data, but I did have lots of connections open
to various places.
I got the new cupsys update which didn't fix the problem yet
"sudo aa-complain cupsd" successfully works, printers are able to print
after this command is typed.

A useful test/workaround is provided by mem=XXX. This allowed me to experiment.
Here are the results.
In all cases, the system was booted in recovery mode (for speed of testing),
appending mem=XXXM to the kernel command-line. All 4 DIMMs (8GB in total)
were always present.

Yeah, I'm still using nvidia, but I never had any problems with this in
Feisty.
But actually, I'm not having the same troubles anymore since the compiz
updates. glxgears still crashes X, but now I'm able to play all of the
games mentioned above without trouble.

Do you think it is possible to port the ata_piix module from kernel
2.6.15 with the 2.6.20 (if this comes from this module...)? I have quite
a good experience in C dev but never jumped into the kernel itself, but
if I can bring any help, I'll be pleased. :)

The only issue i have is it wont remmeber when i change or scedule
recodings. fix in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=474638 didnt
work it stops mythweb from working. I also get errors at the bottom of
the page like "fatal error: Call to a member function query() on a non-
object in /usr/s
I am using all latest packages from Gutsy. I have also wiped my
installation and performed a clean install from Tribe 4 CD and all
updates.
