I did a bit more experimentation, and I found that after installation
has completed (even before rebooting), the issue cannot be reproduced

I use export to pdf (pdflatex) and it works. Can you at least export to

I'm using scim 1.4.7-1ubuntu2 and X11/Dynamic set to true, but input for

My procedures:
sudo mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.orig
restart X (Press Ctrl-Alt-Backspace)
The X started properly and the ++ worked fine.
But when I did:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
and configured my video driver to nvida the ++ stopped to
work.

I can confirm this. Exactly the same thing happend to me. I also have an
xp partition. When I used the debug option the installation could
continue but it later failed (probably a bad cd).

Oddly, if I run 'ubiquity --debug' rather than just clicking on the
icon, it goes past the stalling screen without a problem - I have tried
this twice. I rebooted and tried the standard way of installing again
and it froze in the same place (that's now four attempts with the same
result).
