I have an Edimax 7128 Wireless PCI card. At Edimax's website
(www.edimax.com), they provide a Linux driver for the card. The driver
is RT73, but I haven't been able to successfully build the driver and
use it. By default, Ubuntu notices the device and uses RT61, I believe.

I had this same problem, both with Firefox and Thunderbird. I noticed
the following:
- all the problems began when I tried to point my Ubuntu profiles to my XP
profiles
- both apps worked fine in XP the whole time
- as soon as I switched my profiles back to the Ubuntu partition, I could use
bot

I rebooted in Feisty kernel and discovered that ESSID scanning didn't
work either. It used to work before Gutsy upgrade (and I used fwcutter

I used the "Install in text mode" from the menue of the Live DVD, which
I assume ist the same thing. This way I could install Ubuntu. Now every
time when booting and the Ubuntu logo should display, my CRT tells me

After the last step I got the gray blocks (and the whole laptop hangs, as
usual).

This soundcard works, the problem is getting there. The sound isn't
always perfect, but still..
What you need to do is:
1. Toggle the IEC958 switch in alsamixer or gnome volume control (I believe it
should be set to OFF, as this disables digital output). In alsamixer this
switch is the first one
For reference, it was the revision 461 in the GNOME SVN repository which
changed the tooltip colours (and hence the notification popup

It's not clear this is a bug in the Ubuntu ubiquity. Marking invalid as
