Apparently the hard-coded frequency tables for SONOMA CPUs were never
included in main kernel (from kernel.org). Hence it was probably a patch
from Ubuntu. Why was it dropped in 2.6.22? There is at least one user
for who it worked better with the patch :)

Hi Shea... I think I've found what causes it! I was running one of my
two panels vertically and it seems to me that once enough windows are
open the re-drawing of the window icons on the vertical panel causes an
infinite loop of some kind (deadlock??) with the mallocs growing mem usage.

This just started happening to me within the last week or two in Feisty.
You can literally sit and watch gnome-panel and it will grow by about
100KBytes of resident memory every 10 seconds. I tried a few things to
isolate the cause but ended up just running valgrind to see what it saw.

Hi,
The Ubuntu i386 DVD for gutsy has 10 menu entries on the isolinux menu
(Start or install Ubuntu etc.), only the first 8 ones are displayed due
to screen size in this video mode, but there's no visual indication that
there are other options below the last one.

downloaded), the X server (and gdm) won't boot. In fact, it would

Did you delete the /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf file? If so you may
need to create an empty /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf file, then try to
apt-get --configure -a.
With some packages apt tries to handle config files in a sane way.
