With the new recommends-by-default spec for Hardy this is a bug.
Smartmontools can (and usually is in my experience), executed for live
stats and not as a daemon. The reasoning that mail alerts offers
additional functionality should make mailx a "suggests" rather than a
"recommends".

I was working through this bug and am unable to replicate this problem.
I am using KGpg 1.2.2 (Using KDE 3.5.8) under Kubuntu 7.10
Steps I took to try and reproduce:
1. generate a keypair
2. select the keypair
3. right-click and select delete
4. answer the questions about deleti
I removed xserver-xgl package (which is what I assume you meant) and at
that seems to fix the problem. Window refresh works fine and glxgears
does not crash and is nice and smooth as expected. I can also turn on
"Extra Visual Effects" in Appearance Preferences without the screen
going crazy which

Progress: removing the (unrelated) epiphany game and rebooting fixed the
problem on my work machine:

BeSt, any chance you have /dev/sdX drives? Then this may be bug 156893.
Can you please try the patch linked there and report back (over there is
preferred I think), if it solves your problem? You should remove the
hdparm init script before, of course ("sudo update-rc.d hdparm remove").

In the released version of Gutsy, I see the problem on my old Sony Vaio
PCG-XG19 with the Xircom cardbus PCMCIA card. It doesn't connect on

7.04 live cd was not able to see any disk if set to IDE mode in BIOS, setting
in AHCI was the only way to install but the system was unstable.

I just update my bios today to see if it would fix my issue, it fixed

It seems that the problem is the /lib/udev/set_hwclock script; it calls
hwclock, even when HWCLOCKACCESS is set to 'no' in /etc/default/rcS

I am also a victim of this problem. Getting Xinerama to work the way I
wanted was a real PITA, and when I finally had it working right my
Compiz was killed. Xinerama is more useful than Compiz so I will stick

Same problem - libgphoto2 failed to install during upgrade to gutsy
By running "sudo apt-get install -f" I get the output in the file
attached with this comment ("output.txt")

Same for me, and running Gutsy as well...
I was wondering why my email server stops to send emails once per day almost...
and now i discovered this bug report.. which is the same problem happening to
me... and since I've upgraded to gutsy... with feisty, zero problems.

After hibernation on gutsy, power manager applet or its settings doesn't
refresh themselves.
Steps to reproduce:
1-) Plug in your laptop to AC power, the power manager should display that the
AC power is plugged in.

I'm not sure if it's exactly the same bug but the symptoms look similar:
under Gutsy, my HP nw8000 never reports lid as being closed in
/proc/acpi/button/lid/C138/state and acpid doesn't generate any events

The problem is the gconf variable
/apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/number_of_desktops. The value from
my original gconf files (which originated from dapper/feisty) was 4. In
