I upgraded my Ubuntu 7.04 to 7.10 on a PowerBook 17 and lost the use of
my 5in1 adapter pcmcia card reader.
After searching on the web I find that it could be due to the kernel
version, I then looked at /boot and discover that vmlinux and initrd.img
were symbolic links
I'm not quite sure which log file it is that you want. I tried running
openarena. It completely crashed my system after a few moments. Here is
the Xorg.0.log.old. Is that it? I'll also run a strace on openarena and
output everything into a file. Would that help?

Everything happened the exact same ways. Openarena crash everything. I can't

How much do you have RAM (memory) on the system? Run 'grep Mem
/proc/meminfo' on a terminal, also 'swapon -s' and give us the output.
I don't see a bug here. You system is busy so the apps aren't that
responsive. Once it has loaded all the processes it needs, things work
normally as you said.

For me amd64-agp is loaded alone, and direct rendering works, without
having to rename files or blacklist modules.
The APIC errors occur for me too. They seem to be closely connected to
the DRI; they don't appear under normal use, but upon running glxgears
I'll immediately receive 5 of them.

It's obviously an upstream issue.
I'm not using Ubuntu now (I've switched to Archlinux) and later versions
of liferea indicate a broken feed with a red No Entry icon so there is
some visible indication that something is wrong with the feed.
You might as well close this bug.

I can confirm that http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=476370 has
an upstream fix for this problem.
Since cross-fade is popular and this affects many music formats I
suggest a high importance for this one.
