This could be important for debugging Xorg crashes with compiz.
There are a number of bugs I have had in Xorg that I cannot find logs for, as I
believe one crash was almost immediately followed by another.

I have the same problem in Ubuntu 7.10 with a Sony Vaio PCG-FR315S.
Function keys do cause key events, however these aren't mapped to
anything.
Non-functioning keys are:
Mute (Fn+F3),
Volume (Fn+F4),
Brightness (Fn+F5),
Video output select VGA/LCD (Fn+F7),
Hibernate (Fn+F12)
All of the above
I'm setting this bug as Fix Released based on the upload of 8.4-1 to

Yes the bug is still present.
I Have checked my memory, no problems on memtest or my Debian4.0 or win
XP systems on this box.
This is definately not a thermal problem my box runs very cool.
This is a complete lock up, I can't open
this happens to me a lot. Kaffeine isn't the problem. All drag and drop
actions that involve another window grabbing focus with tooltip shown
will crash if your mouse moves back to the tooltip (given that the
window overlaps dolphin, as mentioned by the OP).
I also noticed hovering on icons with
a) I confirm the bug. I was also really confused about this when I tried
to correctly install my printer.
b) I would suggest to link the menu item refresh with both the F5 key
and the ctrl-r key combination as these are the most intuitive.

I have installed Kubuntu 7.10, and it is absolutely impossible to
install anything, to update the software repositories or to do anything
related with software installation.

Rhythmbox is bad for media library.
You can only specify your library location to one place.
But I have example /home/me/Music but also /media/music/
It would be better if you could specify a list of locations instead of
just one location.
