Just to confirm this keeps happening on more then a few of the systems here,
this could be attributed to gconfd-2 or applets I guess...
It seems gconf-d is not stopping and then on reload applets dont work.
killing gconfd-2 and removing temp files with the word gconf in the /tmp dir
seems to fix.

Could you provide more detail about how your system is crashing? What
part of your system is crashing? Is this a default fiesty install or
have installed a custom kernel? I didn't see any oops in your dmesg
dump. The only "error" that I can see is the message below

Okay thankyou, looking at the kmesg dump it would appear I need to look
into the kernel auditing code more closely.
As for not being able to start klogd, sorry about that I seemed to have
edited my local profiles for testing long ago and had forgotten about

I am experiencing very similar symptoms (likely the same cause) with my
Intel card. Same messages in /var/log/messages. The link just goes
up/down constantly.
I can trace it going up and down with repeated calls to ethtool eth0 and
watching the "Link detected" line

FYI, the bug also occurs with VMware's tar installer, except that after
Force-Quiting the window it relaunches automatically and then works.
(That is the same behaviour as I saw with the tar install on my Ubuntu
dapper computer at work when I used to use VMware Server there.)

Nicolas, thanks for your detailed report and follow-ups.
I believe the issue is clear enough. We only need some developer who
uses scim-anthy to analyze the problem. Also, I suspect the problem is
on scim-anthy or anthy instead of scim, as I use scim-pinyin in firefox
without any problems.
