I should add that in each case, if I go to the window decorations plugin
and set the shadow effects to extreme settings of radius an intensity,
then i can get very dim shadows to display on the different sides of

Now it sounds like the shadow offset in the decorator is off. For gtk-
window-decorator (GNOME) this value is read from the compiz settings (if
you've left compiz using gconf instead of switching to flat file) but
with emerald and kde-window-decorator the option is stored elsewhere.

I have been using Opera browser for over 5 years. I prefer it and have found it
to be the fastest of all browsers including Firefox. Over the last week Opera
9.24 that I use, has really slowed down. It ran very fast with Feisty Fawn and
it ran very fast with Gutsy Gibbon
Are you sure that new profiles are not getting cleaned up automatically?

With a recent thread on ML i came again across a problem with Thunderbird
that i had myself 1 or 2 years ago.
Thunderbird uses mailbox files to store mails and an aditionally *.msf file
for meta data of that mbox-file.
