As a temporary workaround reference for me(when I install this again
after a while forgetting eveything that I had to read up to fix the
problem) as well as others, here are the steps.
Steps to be taken after the installer fails.
1. sudo touch /etc/inittab
2. sudo dpkg -i /tmp/daemontools/admin/d
tried network-admin from kubuntu 8.04 Alpha 6:
process 10329: arguments to dbus_connection_set_exit_on_disconnect() were
incorrect, assertion "connection != NULL" failed in file dbus-connection.c line

Scrolling with the mouse on top of the workspace switcher.
Expected: change workspace
Result: Both top and bottom panel disappear (i assume thats a crash) and then
reappear after 10 seconds or so.

When I drag and drop few files into VLC they are added into play list (ctrl-P)
but they are not played all repeatly, insteady VLC stops sometimes after 1 clip
or after playlist.
Despite the option "Repeat All" being ON (and "Repeat One" is OFF, so is
"Shuffle")

This is because of a change in fontconfig, which sets hinting to medium
and anti-aliasing to greyscale. This is the default setting on the gnome
