I've upgraded to the 2.6.24-14 kernel - still the same. When I
hibernate, the screen turns off and the disks stop, but all the fans and
lights stay on. And it doesn't resume.
Suspend-to-RAM behaves slightly differently. I can do one suspend-resume

On further research, this appears to be a duplicate of Bug #199823 , for
which a fix now exists in Debian and will eventually arrive in Ubuntu.
Meanwhile, patched packages are available for individual download
To complicate matters, if I do 'sync; echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace;
/etc/acpi/hibernate.sh force', then suspend-to-disk works consistently
every time. Maybe my suspend-to-disk problem is actually related to
something higher up (g-p-m?), and my suspend-to-ram problem is a
completely different issue.

Oh.. one more thing to add:
When running PowerTop, be sure to give it several minutes run-in before
believing the power consumption figures. I've noticed it only seems to
give me believable power consumption figures after about 10 minutes of
use - its first estimates are quite wildly out but get b
no update no, the log has nothing obvious and the upstream main hacker
who was working on it is on holidays and away from coding for a few
months now so it's not likely to get actively worked soon right now

Confirmed on Ubuntu Hardy Beta with an ATI Mobility Radeon X700 card,
using the radeon driver.
Tried to setup the TV output with the new "Screen Resolution" utility in
Hardy, and also using xrandr directly, to no avail.
I'm willing to post any relevant info about my system that may help
solve thi
I would suggest that the importance be raised and the bug be opened in
Xorg or the relevant driver. This basically stops people in their tracks
from using the AMD64 CD on MacBook Pro, unless you know how to switch VT
and force GDM to reload.
