As far as I can remember, the Pidgin synchronisation plugin is extremely
simple, and the entries will have to match exactly (between Pidgin and

I've now read all the comments of this bug as I should have done before
I submitted my first comment/solution. The patch supplied by Ilja
Pavkovic on 2008-03-19 is probably the correct way to solve the problem

I tried a newer BIOS (f.39) again in the hope that bug would have been
fixed, as the older bioses cause other bugs for me, but the brighness
adjustment still will not work.
I think the bug actually isn't in hal but in the kernel (acpi module?). It
seems that the /proc/acpi interface is deprecated
Amazingly I was able to find a fix after scouring this site. The answer
was in bug #75055. If I added pci=nomsi to my kernel line in the
menu.lst file I was able to get past BusyBox. Unfortunately all is not
well. I can't seem to get Hardy to recognize my ipod and it freezes
occasionally. I'm going

is triaged as high importance.

Not sure if that's the right package.
I just restarted my computer running Hardy and compiz did not come up.
Attempting to start it from a terminal brought the attached output. I disabled
the blur plugin and it started fine.

I enabled the "shift switcher" and set the keybinding for "next window"

OK, let me summarize my arguments agaist using Zen Hei as the default
Chinese font under current circumstances:
1. Blurry strokes of truetype fonts.
2. Missing 14px bitmap font.
3. No pre-designed bold face, and either xft or freetype make a mess of the
strokes of complex and not-so-complex chara
