and found that it typically works best when CONFIG_HZ_1000=y is in the
kernel compile. -386, -generic and -server do not have this, but -rt
does. So I tried -rt with the 1:1.4.9.2~dfsg-1 zaptel-source and
ztdummy works great

I'm suddenly having major issues with my USB-connected printer. I have
a Sharp MP30 laptop (from 2005), Epson Stylus Photo R220 printer, and
running Hardy 8.04 with all updates applied as of Apr 20. (As a user,
not a developer, I don't know what the problem really is or whether this

Here's two valgrind logs, made with nautilus set at 100% and 150% zoom.
I've tried to let it run for a couple of minutes in each case and kill it with
nautilus -q, only in the second case it took much longer as the system was
crawling.
With zoom 100% the process' memory usage was stable, but at
I get the same error (in Hardy).
However, I also get that error when I run glxinfo or glxgears, and
glxinfo tells me I have no direct rendering even though glxgears is
rendering at a speed that wouldn't be possible without direct rendering,
the same speed it had before I upgraded to Hardy RC
For the record, I upgraded to the Hardy libpaper1 1.1.23 (i386 binary)
in my Gutsy system, and it went well. I also downgraded to the Gutsy
version on my Hardy system and upgraded it back without problems. (Both
cases with a4 in /etc/papersize).

working in gutsy, but is not in hardy. I don't know if this is the same
bug.
Going to suspend work, and on resume the backlight are on, and BIOS
information of X3100 graphic chipset appears. But gnome screen don't go

I am using the linux 2.6.24.4
I reduced the kernel configuration my removing many modules and drivers.
But after removing the last few modules I am getting the following
errors as my kernel panics

It happens the same to me, but I'm running a 32bit laptop. XP lives
almost 5.5 hours, Gutsy 4.25 and Hardy... 3.25!! I think it has
something to do with the wi-fi chip (bcm43) because when I turn it off
the energy consumption drops down, but still short battery life.

I did not comment on that bug because what I've read they already make up their
mind, so I guess they have some valid reasons.
Making people desktop unresponive could be one of them, I am not an kernel
expert.
If you think that you can persuade them to do the right thing feel free
to do so (and
Have the same problem here too, Hardy Heron freshly installed and
updated, Intel Q6600 and NVidia graphics card.
The problem is happening only in the resources tab too. If I go to the
process tab, wait a bit and go back to resources tab, the processor goes
back to 100% instantly. It is at 100%
What would be nice here is that gnome-volume-manager allows you to kill
the application in case it does so, or at least to tell which app is
involved. But the file manager hasn't to check what the helper
applications do, since as a general rule they should not block things
silently.
