When you type: sudo echo 2 > /wherever
Bash sees: (sudo echo 2) > /wherever
What you probably want is something like "sudo su -", then you can just

sure what happened, as this was during an upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy
and a lot was going on.

with firefox 2 in updated gutsy install tomorrow.

i ended up rebooting my machine and the problem isn't coming up after
restart.

running `etracer` on my ThinkPad (a 9000, not a 9600) on this Fedora 8

I am experiencing the same problem. I am using Ubuntu Hardy (dev) but
this problem only started to occur after upgrading to firefox 3 b5. I
experience this problem many times during normal browsing. The cpu usage
of FF is close to zero, if not zero. Memory usage seems normal too.

Jeroenvrp, this has been showing for last 3 releases if not longer. I
cant recall exact time, if we made the -kde-support package this problem
will go away IF IT WILL SOLVE IT. it sounds reasonable atm.
