That is strange. What I can suggest is that you check the output of dmesg, both
after rebooting and after resetting alsa. Check if there is anything different
when loading the snd-hda-intel module. Also, check if there is a duplicate
module somewhere under /usr/lib/modules. It was simpler before

For me this problem is not fixed. I'm still having this same problem
with a fresh install of Hardy (Gnome, not KDE) on a Dell Intel machine
(Intel graphics). Logging out either once or twice hangs the system
consistently, and I can't access it through keyboard or network and have
to hard reboot.
Bringing up the Launch Application dialog with xchat(-gnome) as an
option is the expected behaviour, but it does not currently have this
option. The bug description suggests this is a regression that occurred
somewhere between Edgy and Gutsy. Launching xchat automatically would
only occur only if y

Synaptics is copied into the xorg also when using nvidia-settings, but
you must use restricted manager to activate it. When you you another
driver or envy ... than nvidia settings builds it's own xorg with

I can confirm the exact dame bug in my sony vaio VGN-C240E. This bug
happens when I tried to boot using the 2.6.24-16 or 2.6.24-17 kernels.
However, everything works fine with the 2.6.22-14 kernel. Moreover, when
