Public bug reported:
I have sound when listing to music or watching videos, but when we open
e-mail attachments we don't have sound.
ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
Date: Sat May 31 09:05:40 2008
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/totem-gstreamer
Package: totem-gstreamer 2.22
A slight off-topic, but maybe helpful note:
If Kaffeine gives the "encrypted DVD" warning for every DVD, check if
it's pointing to the right device file (/dev/dvd by default) in
"Settings > xine Engine Parameters > media > dvd.device".
For some strange reason, my dvd devices were moved to "/dev/d
I am agree that it is not gdm problem. But this problem only happened
after upgraded to Hardy or fresh installed of Hardy.

You're right depmod -a only cares about the loaded kernel.
But you can do that manually (it's probably the easiest way), you just
need to add two lines to /lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic/modules.dep:
/lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic/kernel/drivers/ide/pci/via82cxxx.ko:
/lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generi
I encounter the same problem after the updates..

I've fixed this by switching to IDE drivers.
To do this, append those lines to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules:
atiixp # change to your chipset driver!
ide_core
ide_cd
ide_disk
ide_generic
blacklist ata_generic
blacklist pata_atiixp
blacklist pata_acpi
Maybe you don't need the blacklist stuff, I'm

That doesn't do anything
