I'm not sure, but i have this drive WD740ADFD, ubuntu hardy heron with the
2.6.24-16 kernel and i can't enable 32 bit transfer, its stuck on the low
performance 16 bit.

I can confirm this problem with nautilus and samba shares using nautilus
2.22.3 along with a few other problems.
The following is from my .xsessions-errors file:
