I had managed to get the stick to work for one session - i booted as usual
without the usb stick plugged & after gnome was up I plugged it and it somehow
worked for 1 session.
So I did an upgrade to 2.6.24-19 and rebooted, but it didnt solve the problem -
i still get soft lockups when the device
Hmmm... Actually I tried to ping and SSH to the laptop after I got tired of
waiting in front of a black unresponsive machine with a gone-crazy HD. By that
time the machine was actually properly anwering ping and SSH thru Wi-Fi, but it
had already been "trying to wake up" for at least a cigarette
I've found something that might be worth a shot. Can you please add 'blacklist
usbcore' to /etc/modules and try again.
Can you also please tell what USB devices are connected?

your problem seems to be identical to my T60. You asked for 8.0.1: The device
ids for the 82573L got removed from e1000 8.0.1 as the e1000e driver is now the
default. As the patched 7.6.15 seems to work fine, I currently have no urgent
need readd the device ids to the latest e1000 driver

This is expected behavior for a terminal/shell. If the device isn't mounted, it
won't show up in the shell until you mount it. Viewing the device with Dolphin
mounts it, thus making it navigable in the shell. Amarok should at least see
the device in the Open fi
