Solved for me at last! The sound was indeed saturated, I don't know what
changed, but Igor pointed me in the right direction, at last!
What I did was this:

- For the PCM, Front, Surround, Center and LFE, I set the level

The same error here also with canon 400D EOS with kernel 2.6.24-19-generic.

Upon initial launch of FF3, extension checking will not complete. After
cancel of extension checking, extension/tools/check for updates reports
an XUL error. No extensions will load under Ubuntu Hardy Heron and
Firefox 3.0 no matter what I try. They all give me an XUL parsing

Connected the Wacom tablet. The machine froze in about 10 minutes. I
killed it via the power button and rebooted. Forgot to disconnect the
tablet. Machine froze again before the Gnome desktop was completely
finished building. Killed again with the power button.
Is there any other information
