I have exact the same symptoms using the same wireless card: Netgear
WG311v3 with ndiswrapper.
I experienced no problems at all on feisty and hardy using wired

Why hasn't this change been pushed through the standard update

Thanks, that clears a few things up for me. I was under the impression
that tex was considered a proper extension for latex files in the vim

I can confirm this problem.
I'm running kernel 2.6.24-19-xen on Ubuntu 8.04, and have got two Intel 82575EB
nic's, which just don't work.
According to ifconfig, ip link show, brctl show and so on, everything seems to
be fine. But there is just no traffic going through the interfaces.
With the
Lukasz, this is what I did before. After that Abiword's insert menu
doesn't have the equation option.

I had the same problems with the pdf export. After removing the
.openoffice.org2 directory everything works. I can not remember that I
have made any configuration changes. If so, it was only to set PDF/A or
similar in the GUI.
