i was burning the iso for the ubuntu 7.10 for a live cd. but when i go
to boot it up, it shows the options but no matter what i press the

The untested killall5 -o omitpid thing should have been tested because
I'm using the omidpids protocol to avoid killall5 zfs-fuse, and it DOES
NOT WORK at all. It just hangs there in terminating remaining
processes, even though I've confirmed it is doing the -o omitpid thing
with echoes in the
another thing: if zfs-fuse has any pending i/o operations, it cannot be
killed except with -9. But the killall5 is clearly hanging, not getting
to the sleep 5 portion of the initscript.

If you have a laptop maybe it is just a Pipe A problem for you.
The fix for this issue is to quirk your card to force enabling Pipe A. Try

I am having the same problem with the latest, as of posting, vmplayer
and a fully patched Fedora 9 with XP guest os.
Approaching the problem from a different angle:
If the belief here is that this is most likely a VMWare issue then please go to
the vmware forum and leave a message there as well.
e.g. in KDE as well, just make a new (invalid) .desktop file: right click on
desktop,new, text file.
Name it test1.desktop - and try to edit it - at least I can't do it easily.
If you doubleclick it - you get the error ... hast no entry Type=... - which
is ok, but you can't EDIT it.
