Same problem occured here two days after a fresh install of hardy,

I've found a workaround that works for me: launch synaptic from a
terminal, with kdesu synaptic. No hang.
I need versions of thunderbird and lightning extension please use apt-
cache policy thunderbird and post all output to this bug. Please do the
same with lightning. From what im seeing these are not Ubuntu packages
or they have been modified by someone other than ubuntu devs

There is something wrong with bookmarks and history
This is most probably an issue with the nvidia driver. Still, Kubuntu
8.04 comes with a feature called bulletproof-X which means that even if
the nvidia driver is stupid again and wants to stop you from using KDE,
X will fallback to either nv or vesa (i.e. lowlevel) so you have basic
functionality
I would consider this a feature. By the way, the items don't disappear
from the menu editor for me.

- When adding ignored hosts like *.mycompany.com Firefox respects the setting

Based on an old posting I found I added the following to
/etc/X11/xorg.conf and have been unable to reproduce the crash.
Presumably my graphics performance is reduced though.

I believe this is the same bug that I've run into when trying to run the
intrepid alpha 2 liveCD on my laptop, which uses an i945GM chipset.
When the livefs boots, the desktop background comes up, then everything
goes blank. If I switch to VT1, I see that compiz.real is running; if I

installer, the music can be played in the background using mpg123.
Disabling the music is very simple, you power off your loudspeakers. For

This morning cron mailed me again about this debconf error about not
beeing able to set frontend, TERM not set, etc.
Unfortunatelly I've deleted the mail already. The orcward thing is
aptitude runs fine acording to my logs and installes packages from
hardy-security just fine. Last time was Jul 10
Same problem in 8.04.1, SUID is solution.
