I have a similar problem: Ubuntu 8.04 with nvidia Go 7600 graphic card.
Problem is, screen flashes (like a blink) some 4 times a minute. I have

Thanks for responding. Unfortunately I no longer have Hardy on the
partition in question as I have started alpha testing Intrepid Ibex
(which up till now does not suffer from this problem).
Even without setting ACPI to off, switching off at the wall for 5
seconds would cause this
Is this fix STILL waiting to be uploaded to -updates?

You did not explain why you reassigned this bug to a different package
and assigned it to yourself. I think you've made some mistake here;
this bug is definitely not a bug in libapache2-mod-auth-pam, and is
already resolved.
