I have learned some new information. Removing only "xforcevesa" from the
grub line still produces the failure case.
Removing just "splash" however seems to make it work, so this is
possibly nothing to do with the xforcevesa option after all. Although
I'm still not sure why that has been put there

I'm on HP Pavilion tx1320us, Audacity shows my mic working on both
channels. My lap is AMD64, gnome-voice-control gets stuck on
"Calibration". I'm adding my 3 cents to this bug report.

Tested the "mount.cifs //172.18.100.35/open open/
-ousername=lager,sec=krb5i,guest --verbose" command again and it worked
fine. Used the new kernel version:
linux-image-2.6.26-5-server-2.6.26-5.17

I upgraded to Intrepid yesterday, and it is still not working right,
although the symptoms are slightly different.
as I connect there start 2 programs, the first is f-spot (0.4.4), which
