memory serves me correctly the issue disappeared when I tried a
live-cd of a later version. So it was probably something that got
botched during the upgrade and hasn't been fixed since.

With Gutsy and now Hardy kernels, I no longer need to use the noapic
option, as per Tormod's question above. However I still get the same
MP-BIOS error when booting. I conclude from this that there is some
kind of successful workaround in the kernel.
I think this bug should be marked "solved".

See bug #259597. The problem is that "Of" in the filename is written in
capital when it should be
gpg --clearsign UbuntuCodeofConduct-1.0.1.txt
note the Code*of*Conduct where the "o" of "of" is in minor.

whenever i go to a website like youtube and i play music or some form of
media, i don't hear anything, until i download it and i use the movie
player to play it. only then do actually hear sounds

I'm seeing this bug as well. Is there a fix to make the compose key
work on login when automatic login is enabled? If not, I would be
willing to spend some time to figure it out, but I'm not sure where to
