Is this not caused by the same problem that causes bug 207072, which is
fixed (for me at least) using the patch supplied there:

I applied that patch to gvfs-0.99.8 and it cured all my nautilus smb
woes.

report and patch, but it appears to have received no attention upstream
yet.

They are not disabled at all.
The repos are enabled but you need to do sudo apt-get update. Starting
Add/Remove will prompt you for a reload as to I believe will Synaptic.

pulseaudio doesn't die, but because console-kit-daemon dies (and is
respawned), all the information about the current X session is lost - so
pulseaudio is no longer authorized to access the sound devices.

the codec installer needs to be run twice, and then youtube videos will
still not play until totem is restarted
1) boot live cd
2) lauch totem
3) enable youtube plugin
4) search for you

Thanks for replying. So this is definitely the wrong thread, since I'm
not using xrandr. I will look elsewhere . . . (after first trying to

The question makes no sense really, as Intrepid has no KDE3 packages
where there is a “usable” replacement and Kopete has been superseded by
its KDE4 version.
