This is still the case in the Intrepid Beta.
Interestingly enough, I noticed that booting the laptop with the
wireless switch off, turning the switch on, suspending the system and
then powering it back on will get wireless working, just as if the
system was originally booted with the switch on.

I installed Ubuntu Intrepid Beta from CD (fresh install) with the existing
/home/ folder/drive. This cured the problem. I haven't installed KDE at the
moment.
Anyway, I still think something was wrong with some conflicting settings. At
this point I'll close this bug report.

I can confirm the bug. This also happened to me when i tried to install Ubuntu
from the Live Session. It's the 30.09 i386 desktop version of Intrepid Beta.

I am also having this bug on SSHFS filesystem. So it surely not a samba
bug. It IS a gedit bug. If I delete the file that I want to save, it
saves. If it exists - aka: I save it again - It fails. No matter if

It's because Wine installs the winbind package, which is how it gets the
ntlm_auth functions it needs sometimes. Once you've installed that
Samba tries to use it, and breaks.
Basically, Wine needs a way of getting ntlm_auth without affecting samba at all.

After the update SeaMonkey doesn't browse. Whatever the URL I try to
open it always says it couldn't be found, even the ones on the personal
toolbar by default. Never happened before the update.
Proxy setting is on "Direct connection to the Internet".
