I am having a comparable problem running squeezecenter on Intrepid Ibex
development versions. Some builds of squeezecenter work; others do not,
but it appears to depend on whether the purge / re-install of mysql-
server and mysql-server-5.0 is successful or not.

with newer Ati chipsets (like me with the Radeon HD 3850, which isn't
even of the very newest generation) don't even get basic 2D acceleration

well, again an unexpected behaviour of system... i'd like to describe in

Solved. Turned out to be a couple of settings at /etc/ppp/options,
where both lcp-echo-interval and lcp-echo-failure need a value of
0 (no quotes).
This was causing glitches in both WVDial scripts and Network Manager 7,
leading me to blame the underlying driver.
More detail at:
I confirm this. On launching Pidgin, using the fast user switch applet
alone I can change the status to Online, Offline and Busy. Changing
status to Away does not work.

I've packaged kwave 1,8,0, as Intrepid release is near, and I don't wanted to
wait for debian package.
I also made some cleanup in patches.
