I think I've FINALLY found a answer!!! I have been following bug#246269
& the post(s) #47 by captn & #62 by chris_c "seems" to have fixed the
problem. Prior to this I tried both -5 & -6 kernels & had soild BIOS
warnings until desktop. I had noted captn's fix, but it had not worked
until I used 1024
Some additional problems to the list:
4. Subtitle functionality is broken - subtitles do not appear when a
user selects them in the totem menu and also the list of available
subtitles the dvd supports is not correctly identified.
5. Audio functionality is broken - audio tracks are not changed whe
I too have the Thinkpad R61 and the mic is not working at all. Very
frustrating!

The Hardware Drivers applet recognizes that my eee 900a has an atheros
driver, and claims that it's activated, but network manager doesn't see
any devices.
In Network Tools there is an unknown device, wmaster0.

The symptoms described are fairly generic so it's hard to say what's
going on. Some things to do:
* Attach your Xorg.0.log. If it is an X bug (which it sort of sounds like),
this is required.

Hi,
I believe I had checked that. The default build turns out to be
non-local. When linux failed to boot, it dropped to the initram
prompt, where I did a dmraid --version (or similar) and it gave rc15.
It was a static build I believe.
When it failed I was able to boot one of my older kernels tha

Okay - I just did a complete purge of network-manager, knetworkmanager,
network-manager-kde, network-manager-gnome, and libnm-glib0, reinstalled
all of them (but network-manager-gnome) and it seems to be working
correctly! Must have been some residual config somewhere.
