Sorry for writing you back so late but I didn't managed installing
linux-image-2.6.27.
But today I am using Ubuntu 8.10 amd64 (2.6.27-7-generic) and the bug is fixed!
After starting ubuntu the sound just works. No more need to adjust volume. :-)

There were some changes in 2.6.27 kernel. I've found a patch here:

If anyone can say me what files are needed for adjust the brightness

Well not really, I'm just using the internet like normal, sometimes just
using pidgin for chat when the crash happens, other times downloading,
sometimes just
looks like I got the same error. Just installed Intrepid Ibex to a
flash drive using 'System Administration Create a USB Startup Disk'
and attempted to update it from the Update Manager. It downloaded and
installed many updates, but hung on this one. Apport caught the crash
and guided me to
the short circuit got a complaint from test page printing that the
pdftopdf file didn't exist. I moved the file back and the test page
printed all of the color but no text on the page. PDF's did the same as
before-a few lines but no text.

In which language in the world (I mean human language not programming
language because this is human facing functionality) does expression
value IS empty actually mean value is anything?
And even if there is, isn't it better to change this functionality to
way it can't create confusion?
