I can tell you up front that the computer is quite responsive after
resume (CapsLock led, ssh, etc.) it's just that the screen remains blank
and, obviously, not very usable ;-)

I'm removing the COD4 benchmark results. I discovered that the Hardy
64bit had a lot of native Windows DLLs installed in its .wine folder:
copying this .wine folder across to Intrepid sped up the fps to similar

As I was attempting (in galeon) to add an 'Also affects project' link, I got
_another_ crash.
This time the error from galeon as 'Segmentation fault'.
I haven't seen this behaviour before, the machine has been quite
stable since the release in October, even though I have been updating

The problem I have now is the screen randomly goes black and a single

Well, something has changed. The X terminal is back on F7; but still not
working right.
I restarted and cycled through the Ctrl-Alt-Fx combinations:
F1-F6 - tty1-tty6
F7 - blank screen
F8 - boot messages
F9-F12 - blank screen
I went back to F7 and Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to restart X: worked.

I can confirm this issue myself, and am including an Xorg.0.log and my
xorg.conf. This doesn't seem to only be related to turning off the keys
-- I tend to leave my laptop on for 5-7 days before a reboot, and
typically after day 2-4 I will lose the scroll. I have figured out
purely by accident

OS: Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex running a stock compiz (v0.7.8) with the optional
compizconfig-settings-manager package installed. All updates installed at time
of writing.
Video Driver: Nvidia 177.
Hardware specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+, Asus A8N-E motherboard, Nvidia

works fine with another new user created on your system? which video
card do you have and which driver are you using? do you have the
desktop efffects enabled? does it happens without them? thanks.
