I found an interesting fact about this bug.
I installed ubuntu 8.10 inside windows XP using wubi installer. This
crash does not occur in it. The I did a full system update and
restarted. I could not reproduce this bug under that installation
however.

Yes, this can create confusion for the users, i remember it made me

I got the window again when I tried to use a damaged CD. So my

some data off the disc sectors. I lightly sandpapered an unwanted CD and

More seriously though, the app hangs for you for some reason. I cannot
determine the reason and fix it if you do not send me counsole output,
python backtrace, or something to show me why it hangs.

I dont remember what my default client was set to ... But those two
session variables you mentioned where set to default. Now however
they're both set to gnome and the trash works fine. Has for the install,
I didn't go through to normal installation since my install is a dist-
upgrade from gutsy.
A solution for it would be editing the firefox.desktop file, like with 'sudo
gedit /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop' from terminal, editing
'Icon=firefox-3.0' to 'Icon=firefox', and having the icon as firefox.png,
firefox.svg or firefox.xpm at '/usr/share/pixmaps/'.

No, it seems to be a vesa bug. I'm not the one who attached it to
openchrome.
This bugs has been annoying for so long I had time to change my 4 years
old PC and get another card. Won't be able to help anymore.

pidgin hangs while connecting to gtalk and msn
It looks like a directory was deleted from the filesystem just as rdiff-
backup was going to process it. I have improved the error message so
that the next version of rdiff-backup will print which directory caused
the problem.
