2.6.27-9-generic on my AMD 780G board with an SB700 southbridge (A

I have this bug as well in Ubuntu 8.10 x64. I wanted to setup some
keyboard shortcuts for volume up, down, mute.
In the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog (System - Preferences - Keyboard
Shortcuts), if I attempt to assign Super + PageUp as a shortcut, it just
assigns it to Super L.

I tried capturing trace of gnome-panel. I think i am doing some thing
wrong. Since gnome-panel is already running, I am not sure is this the
correct way of doing. Also if i kill the process it restarts again
immediately.

I believe this is a problem in GNOME, not Ubuntu.
I have experianced this same bug in Arch Linux with GNOME 2.24.2-1.
I have also tried what ABE3K said, and it did play my custom sound, or no sound
when it was disabled.
I am running on a slower machine, and I have noticed sometimes that
