I just tried to update to the following day's kernel: 2.6.27-11.26 and
ran into the same issue.
The first error I spot in the synaptic terminal is:

download dvd images of Ubuntu 8.04.2, but here You can only find 8.04.1 images.
Sources are correct.
I haven't found any post saying dvd are not released, so I belive this is a bug.

I have the same problem, on Intrepid with the final KDE 4.2 packages.
I have disabled nepomuk in System Settings, under the advanced tab and
then desktop search. This seems to "solve" the problem.

Following Bryce Harrington's comments above, I do NOT find the problem
to be fixed in the kernel - I am running 2.6.27-11-generic on a 32bit
Intel dual core ( Thinkpad T60p 2007-AE7 ) and still find that I need to
use Dave Abraham's scripts.

and server. I can't copy the error so I'll sum it up:

I have this same issue with XUbuntu 8.10 Intrepid.
I've got two WD 320Gb drives which are physically identical but report
slightly different hardware revision numbers. Both are formatted ext3.
The "blue" drive works as expected but the "red" drive exhibits this

I had the same problem with edge flipping in 8.10. Switching compiz
window manager to metacity solved the problem for me.

The Ubuntu 8.04.2 liveCD will not run on a Dell Optiplex 960.
If a Ubuntu 8.04.2 image is deployed to a Optiplex 960 to get it to boot you
have to load an 8.10 live CD, change the root to the local disk, edit the
sources to use intrepid releases, update the kernel to 2.6.27.

be rotated by renrot. The original files are retained as filename.jpg_orig.
None of this shows up in the console-log. The log is full of renames which are

the settings I did before and copy the project files back. Now I saved
the ~/workspace/.metadata folder. Suppose the settings are stored there.

Oops. After rereading this bug report, I see it isn't really the
problem I was having. I was having trouble with occasional flashes, and
X black screening when playing videos, and such. None the less Cosmin's
"solution" fixed this problem I was having.
Running on a Thinkpad X40 laptop here.

What feedback are you waiting for from upstream?
Moving these files into libpolkit would cause problems (file conflicts)
whenever the libpolkit soname changes, so should be avoided if possible.
The code James cites uses a function named 'polkit_debug' - perhaps if
this is for debuggin

have a contact with a mobile #, and they are "invisible", they can send
messages to Pidgin and I receive them, but any messages I send go to the mobile

Thanks for the quick reply. Here's a new patch that includes a gconf
option, /apps/maximus/no_maximize, to control the behavior. The
command-line option overrules the gconf setting in case they differ.

Yes this is very much still a bug. In fact it goes much farther than
