Actually it has been fixed in Jaunty for the past month.
I tested with a fresh install of jaunty alpha 6, installed the
java6-plugin package, and those new applets worked.
So I marked this as fix released again.

I also have problem after upgrade to kernel version 2.6.27-14 in Intrepid, but
with rt73usb (tested with Asus WL-167g and D-Link DWA-110 adapters)

OK... i finally found the operative bug report (the duplicate) and that
the sound thing is actually the sound: /usr/share/gnome-power-manager
/gpm-suspend-failure.wav which is played on an error, so I just turned
the error sound off in the Power Manager preferences. It was that or
turn the bug

The acerhk driver should be modified by its maintainer to implement the
rfkill API (see Documentation/rfkill.txt). With that implementation the
power management (PM) system will ensure the device state is set
correctly on resume.

PJ: yes, it is still P157 (it is great I can run modern Ubuntu on almost
