Tried again, used different hard disk, instructed ubiquity to use the
entire disk.
X restarted towards the end of the installation - I might have been

Maybe it is unrelated, but I get the same behaviour when an autostart
action should occur (e.g. When I insert a DVD or CD in my drive).

intend to perform a clean installation on this machine over the weekend.
Out of the box, neither Kino nor Ekiga works. If I do a chmod o+rw
/dev/raw1394 then Kino immediately springs into life. Unfortunately I
