I've also heard you can modify the grub config, but that requires rebooting,
and if you're going to reboot, at least on my Lenovo T500, you can disable
higher cstate via a BIOS setting (I think it's under config -> power -> cpu
power management).

Mea culpa : I tried something simple, moved all my .gconf directory to
gconf-save, logout-login.
The session is exactly the same as invite (I mean settings loaded) _but_ the
bug is still there : it is not due to a setting in the .gconf directory :-(
I have no ideas where to seek for a solution.
Someone posted on samba list the same problem and solved it by following
instructions there:

It wasn't acknowledged as a samba bug by the upstream developers.

I'd like to push ubuntu-netbook-remix-default-settings, but it affects
the UI of a couple of apps: evolution and cheese.
This is to have a nicer looking cheese and to fit better on smaller
screens.

Great job! This has been fixed with the latest updates. Both problems
are corrected. I have gone back to the STA wl driver and it works to
connect to my wpa2-psk network.
