I figured out the problem. When you change the preference in the Window
Preferences dialog, it puts toggle_maximize_vert in the gconf setting
/apps/metacity/general/action_double_click_titlebar. This is wrong. It
should put toggle_maximize_vertically. If I manually enter that

I am having a similar problem. Firefox just started opening in something
like full screen mode. To be able remove this full screen I have to go
under view full screen then click on the square minimize button and
minimize Firefox. How do I return to startup in a normal mode? I can
send screenshots
So, we can conclude that it is a problem with compiz? Tormod Volden can
check it deeper I will mark it also likely-dup as I have a feeling I
have seen something similar...

Huygens, as far as I know and can see from the code, computer-janitor
does remove only the packages it shows. Could you send the
/var/log/dpkg.log file from your computer, and attach it to this bug?
