After some initial problems the T61 seems to be stable after some
updates. ext4 is the file system I'm using right now, there were some
minor problems but the computer has been running for almost 24 hours
with out any corruption or any kernel panics. I am still a little leery
or using it for work

To answer my own question: I simply downgraded to the Intrepid version of the

1. Be logged into KDE4.
2. Open eg. ksysguard.
3. Fill disk with data.
4. Close ksysguard and open it again.
Result:
1. Ksysguard says it has malformed xml files.
2. Next time you logon to KDE, it will have desktop settings set to default

The nvidia drivers are not a dependency of ubuntu-desktop package or of
joykey, so it is normal that the NVIDIA driver is not installed
automatically.

First of all, I don't think it can be stressed too often that turning on
backports without using pinning is generally a very bad idea. For
maximum stability you want to only pull in specific packages from
backports.
That said I think a solution to this problem would be that (roughly):
* xen-util
Obviously, this should not only be applied to boost1.37, but also to any
other version.
