This solved a similar problem for me. Kernel took 5 minutes booting up
and multiple long running blkid processes using up all the cpu were
present after that. No sw raid or crypto involved however. See bug

I hope that if Startup Manager is fixed in Jaunty (it doesn't give me
any options to edit in Intrepid), maybe that will be able to do it.

That should teach me, for sticking to LTS versions :) the bug
disappeared in Evolution 2.24 (and newer, probably). However, those
computers are still sticking to the LTS release with evo 2.22, so I'm
