I'll try a different screen and also will install the latest drivers,
but probably not today. Even if Jaunty works I'll probably format the PC
and install it from scratch. At least that way I'll get ext4 and a clean
installation. Too many upgrades (from Gutsy).

I can try. But I doubt it will be an official release. We are having

Here is a test case which shows the problem. Without the patch,
"e2fsck -f journal-test.img" will show multiple filesystem
inconsistencies. This filesystem image was created by running the
command "for i in `seq 1 1`; do echo $i; touch $i ; sleep 0.10;
done" in one window, and then forcing
