Now there is *no feedback* when "/" is entered in the filename , it just doesnt
save without giving any warning to the user. and the save dialogue just remains!

I can confirm that I have the exact same problem. Removing xserver-
xorg-input-synaptics fixes the problem but now, of course, I don't get
any touchpad features (scrolling, tapping, etc.)

Samba server. I mounted it using "sudo mount -t cifs
'\\192.168.1.130\Public' /mnt/temp" , and then while doing "cat
/dev/zero >> /mnt/temp/temp" in another terminal, I called "shutdown -h
-P now" through SSH on the Samba server.

This is sort of sounding more like a kernel issue so refiling.
Fwiw, since -fglrx is proprietary we cannot backport fixes to the driver
to earlier Ubuntu releases.

Okay thanks for letting us know. Since it's no longer supported on
-fglrx we'll close the bug report at this time. Hopefully you'll find
the open source -ati driver suits your needs sufficiently.

Binary package hint: glabels
If i set a font to bold under the style tab, the text appears on the screen as
bold and I expect the font to appear bold when it is printed.
However it does not print bold, it prints regular font-weight instead.
Using version 2.2.3 in up-to-date
Since the hardware is no longer available for doing troubleshooting
with, we'll have to close the bug for now. However please feel free to
reopen if you or anyone else has the same HW and can reproduce this
issue using the latest development version of Ubuntu and is willing to
do some troubleshoot
Installing libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio fixed it for me. I was having
sound problems with all quake based games. If libsdl1.2debian-alsa is
what's having the problems - why is pulseaudio 0.9.15 to blame in this
bug report?

I'm using Hardy 8.04.2 (originally upgraded from Feisty), with gdm
2.20.7-0ubuntu1.1, and it appears as though I am still affected by this
bug:

This bug is especially easy to reproduce when you try to open a document
authored on Microsoft Windows Simplified Chinese edition. Since one
reason is the lack of Windows fonts on Linux, here is a screenshot of
how I "correct" this problem by configuring a font mapping table in
OpenOffice's options
