I have the same setup as the original poster, with the same bug. Xorg
would eventually consume about 2GB of RAM.
After 15 hours of uptime, Xorg seems to be behaving much better with the
packages from that repository. I'll continue to use it for a few days
to see if it jumps back up.

With the new driver, I've started to get more of something similar –
different colored dots. Before this driver version there wasn't a lot of
them (a few in the boot loading stage), but now there's almost 20 (?!)
of them boot time and they even appear in the desktop sometimes.

I am having the same problem since I upgraded to Jaunty. I can hold a
conversation for a little while, then the sound goes quiet, the CPU on one core
hits 100%, they can hear me but I can't hear them. If I kill skype or use the
Pulse volume control to kill Skype.real Skype works again. I have
@David Siegel not true, as said you only need to add one single
parameter in the config file in order to have this working and the
graphical interface is there already, so if i am not completely mistaken
this should not require much more code lines then an if/else statement;)

Changing the ACPI options in BIOS only gives me this:
If I select S1 only, my screen throws some text which end with End trace
If I select S3 only, the system hangs at Loading, please wait...
If I select the default option
