Thanks to Alex Fiestas (kde-quality maillist) I found the problem: The
sticky keys activated (systempreferences->Accessibility->Modifiers
Keys).
However, there must bug somwhere since I've never changed that
configuration settings, neither in KDE3 and KDE4, and never realized of
the current behav
If some developer wants, please close the issue. However I leave this
"open" as something is wrong as I've commented in my previous comment.

I just tried out Karmic Alpha 3, this bug still exists (comment 14 was
with Alpha 2). Started inkscape, rendered a gear, clicked on the 3dbox
tool, clicked in the drawing area, and got the error.

Parrot 1.4.0 was released July 20, and the Debian packages were uploaded
today (July 25).
I've attached the diff.gz for the 1.4 packages for karmic, the original
tarball is at
ftp://ftp.parrot.org/pub/parrot/releases/stable/1.4.0/parrot-1.4.0.tar.

Same problem here (see attached image): Asus laptop model L400L, VGA compatible
controller: SiS 65x/M650/740.
Unfortunately the proposed fix (adding sisfb to /etc/modules) doesn't help.
However I think I found a working fix for my hardware so please read on.

Agreed (since I "suffer" from this very same problem).
This, BTW, also affects rhythmbox's waste of space at the top of the
screen, with exactly the same situation described by the original poster
of this bug).

If you change a cell that has a year in it to it will show the
wrong information because the cell is really a date, so you need a full
date in the field regardless of what you want to display. If you set all
the cells to text or number and then sort it should work fine.

Actually I just installed and tried Okular. Same result. It is not
evince. Just a general printer error.

I have this issue in jaunty.
x11vnc option "-noxfixes" helps but then cursors are ugly.
