I get what looks like a very similar problem on Karmic. I've found a
workaround that works at the moment is to unload and reload the wireless
driver like this:

I have the same issue with Jaunty. I have also tested on Karmic and the
bug is a bit different. First thing is that brightness can now go up to
15 instead of 13 in Jaunty (in
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness). This matches what's
reported in /proc/acpi :

I have the same problem but it is not because of permissions, rather it
is due to lack of entropy.

If you try to open the windows mixer from Adobe Audition, you get this
error:
File not found
Can not find the mixer program "sndvol32 /r".
(Tech note: an alternate mixer applet may be specified in the registry.)

There is a file called 'libcanberra-logout-sound.sh' in
/usr/share/gnome/shutdown that is meant to be run on shutdown. The
reason the file is not played is that the piece of code that is meant to
be in gnome-session to run all files in the /usr/share
This currently shows a "lock" icon for ganging the faders, and the icon
is far away from the faders, making its function not obvious. I would
expect a "lock" icon to lock the device and prevent other programs from
changing it.
Instead, you should show a "chain link" icon, and show lines connectin

NOTE: I found DreamLinux (http://www.dreamlinux.com.br/) 3.5, which is a
Debian-based distro, to work without a hitch. I think it also used
NVidia's 180.xx drivers.

Removing PulseAudio solved this problem. I can have sound playing in
flash concurrent with anything else using sound and it all works fine.

Tested the Xorg edgers system.
With the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver, the microcode works and fixes
the drmCommandBuffer: -22 fault but I can't see what I am typing in the
terminal window so there is a rendering flaw there.
With the xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd driver, everything seems fine
inclu
Can anybody install dbg or dbgsym packages and try to get a backtrace
through gdb? (I would, but the crash is quite random for me and I'm
unable to use linux at the moment.)
