I see the problem, your compiz configuration has gotten corrupted
somehow. Your plugins list is completely empty. Run the following
command then try to start compiz again:
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compiz
That will set your compiz settings back to the defaults and it should all work

Shuffling the cards or editing them will correct the display of the
image appearing in all the cards.
It has to be a problem of refreshing the image links when the cards

I think I'm experiencing the same problem. With a Logitech G5 USB
mouse, xev reports events for only some of the buttons. (I'm thinking
this would explain why I am unable to map the other buttons using the

Just tried the attached build, and the childspin example still hangs.
However, it looks like it's waiting somewhere in do_exit, rather than
the previous deadlock, which seems to be waiting in
poll_schedule_timeout
Will see if I can find more about what's happening here.

IMO, when using a alpha-state release, one should be glad they are only
seeing warnings instead of errors. I've had the same warnings as
everyone else and so long as my system is operating properly, I don't
care about the warnings so long as I know they will be fixed. As for the
off-topic usplash
I am unable to reproduce this on an installed karmic system (X loads
fine with nv drivers).
I cannot get the logs when booting off the liveCD as it locks up
screen/keyboard and I get no terminal access, is there someway I can
force the liveCD to boot into X using vesa drivers?

Did you guys notice that there is a useless black bar in the
notification area sometimes when I open empathy? Screenshot attached,
the black bar usually vanishes after a while, still wanted to mention
it.
