Tim - The light now works and the mute stays set throughout the boot.
Both the volume up and down OSD stuff works, BUT now when I mute, the
OSD doesn't display and the sound icon does not indicate muting. While
I can live with this...not sure everyone else will like it. Thanks!

I have been testing this on Karmic and so far have come up with the
following conclusions (please correct me if any of these are not
correct):
- Out of the box timidity and pulse audio cannot play at the same time.
- Restarting timidity (sudo /etc/init.d/timidity restart) gets timidity to work
What was this patch applied to? Compiz? Would I be able to download
the source and revert this to the old behavior?

Here is what I noticed about this problem. If you have enabled saved
sessions, and enabled Remote Desktop, then /usr/lib/vino-server is
called twice on startup. There is an entry in ~/.config/autostart that
looks like this:

This bug seems to be back in karmic.
After noticing that many of my icons were missing, disabling the ubuntu
mod extension restored all of the buttons to the customize menu. This is
with all of the latest packages as of today. Is anyone else using
karmic?

Firefox only shows default icons in
I am using a MSI Wind U123 with Ubuntu Netbook Remix jaunty 32-bit and
it completely freezes to the point that I have to do a hard shutdown as
well... posted it on the aircrack-ng forum and they just suggested to
install the compat-wireless...haven't had a chance to see if that works
yet..

I'm declaring my problem fixed. Don't know why. Update I guess. I can
now reboot and have sound working. I can also change applications
(firefox to songbird) and have sound come out. All this without any
fiddling.

./configure stage with some problems with the python libraries. So, I
tried, but didn't succeed. I also installed the python2.6-dev and this
