The problem is that Allegro debian team (the guys that build the
package for debian) doesn't release a new version. Therefore, as Ubuntu
merge its repository to debian, we cannot have an updated version of the
package.
Even if someone in ubuntu updates this package, we can not have it in
karmic (

Same flickering brightness problem for me.
It continues until Ubuntu finishes loading all startup programs - then it stops
at some level.
I recently switched to Karmic Koala Alpha 6, problem was not in ealier (stable)
releases.
I am also using MSI Wind U100.
