I also seem to be experiencing this bug, on Karmic. I usually suspend my
computer rather than shutting it down. Although the Software Sources

a saved wifi connection that needs a password. Since your gnome keyring

Before the patch
$ sudo /lib/udev/keymap input/event5 |egrep '0a0|094'
0x094 reserved
0x0a0 mute
sudo /lib/udev/keymap -i input/event5
scan code: 0xA0 key code: mute
Pressing mute key displays the notification bubble and does mute the key but
I am having the same problem, when I try to install an extension.
I can send it to you if you want to reproduce the bug, but I do not want
to publish it.
